Feels too weird adding a blog section and then having it empty, so here's more background on the sudden burst of website development.
At the end of June, I had a hysterectomy. It's been a really easy recovery, only took me maybe 2 weeks to feel back to full power, but I'm still off from work a few more weeks due to the lifting restriction. I'm a night janitor; Lifting obnoxiously heavy things is over half the job. But as one might imagine, I want to be really careful not to go lifting something I shouldn't and cause a bunch of damage to the inside. My biggest fear over this whole experience has been causing a prolapse, since that's easier done without the cervix to hold the top of the vagina in place.
We took out almost everything, excepting my right ovary, so that I can keep making my own hormones. Fascinating to know that one ovary can continue producing about the same level of hormones as two, and the only real difference is entering menopause an estimated six months earlier than with two.
I also had top surgery back in 2017, total coincidence on both counts that they happened during pride month.
